El Hierro

A UNESCO declared GEOPARK and BIOSPHERE RESERVE, El Hierro is the most western of all the seven Canary Islands and the first ZERO MERIDIAN ZONE in history!

NB: A passport is required for this excursion.

El Hierro is also the first island in the world carrying out an energy project to become completely self-sustainable.

The island has the largest protected surface of the archipelago and a thousand volcanoes, which have created a truly unique landscape.

We will take the ferry from the port of Los Cristianos and arrive at the Puerto de la Estaca in El Hierro some hours later.

Once on land we will visit the MIRADOR DE LA PEÑA a house built by famous Canarian Architect Cesar Manrique, which is more than 700 metres above sea level and looks over the Gulf of la Frontera.

From here we will continue our route towards the Holy Tree, EL GAROÉ, which for centuries gave water to the local population. We will pass through the magnificent pine forest to the MIRADOR DEL JINAMA, one of the highest points of the island, from where we will admire the sea of cloud and simply spectacular surrounding landscape.

Next we will pass through the PARQUE RURAL DE FRONTERA to admire the native Laurisilva trees on our way to PLAYA BLANCA.

We will stop in the town of La Frontera to eat a typical and delicious Herreño lunch.

After this we will make our way to PUNTA GRANDE to visit the smallest hotel in the world.

Finally we make our way to the Capital “Valverde” and visit the iconic CHURCH OF CONCEPTION, before returning to the port to take the boat back to Tenerife.
